Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world had expressed condolences for the fighter in the wake of the terrible crash.
