Reigning Sabalenka Secures Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Honors.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.
The twenty-seven-year-old won four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.
A Year of High Performance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Record-Breaking Statistics
Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in earnings.
She earned almost 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".
