A funding package that would end the longest government shutdown in the nation's history is reaching the House of Representatives for a decisive ballot on the coming day.

On the 43rd day of the legislative standoff, congressional members are coming back to Washington to vote on whether to pass a upper chamber proposal that would fund public services for two months.

GOP leaders stated assurance the funding measure would be approved by the lower chamber, despite their narrow majority. But Democratic leadership vowed to oppose it.
